Extensive Radio and Television Coverage of Ak-Sar-Ben Racing AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., June 1. Radio and television coverage of the Ak-Sar - Ben races in the Omaha - Council Bluffs area is one of the largest and most complete ever sent out from any race track. All radio stations KOWH, WOW, KFAB, KOIL, KBON, KSWI, and 000 carry the results after 5:30 pjn. daily. KSWI broadcasts the feature race daily from the track with Bob Hallgren and Gabby George handling interviews and color and Bill Murphy, track announcer, describing the running of the race. KFAB radio also presents the feature running daily with Lyell Bremser, the stations general manager who was track announcer here for many years .handling the entire program by himself. As for television, KMTV, Steve Shepard on his 10:15 sports slot each evening shows a film of the days feature. This is the first time this has been done in Omalia. "Live" telecasts of the feature is expected in 1958 over one of the TV stations. . . . WOW-TV cooperated in pre -meeting promotion by presenting at least eight programs, on Ak-Sar-Ben and racing. These included morning workouts, back-stretch banter and a view of the new construction. Connie Cooks womans show presented the womans angle on racing at three different times. Omaha has probably the highest percentage of women punters in the nation. . . . Four of the radio stations also feature daily predictions programs.
