My Blue Baby Repeats In Cahokia Main Event Races Through Muddy Going to Beat Early Dream, For Country - By J. J. HAHN CAHOKIA DOWNS, East St. Louis, 111., June 1. John P. Rowans roan filly, My Blue Baby, a four-year-old daughter of Condiment who failed to win a race during her first two seasons of campaigning and who recently won the initial race of her career at this track, made it two in a row Friday night when she raced through muddy going to score a clever victory in the Pine Lawn Purse, the five-furlong feature on the nine-race card. R. A. Yourees Early Dream, who earned her maiden victory over a sloppy track at Oaklawn Park, was a badly beaten second, saving the place by a pair of lengths over James M. Stewarts For Country. Blit McGee, Power Play, Grey and Smart and Endicate completed the field. The latter, the 9-to-10 choice, bled after forcing the early pace. Alertly handled by J. R. Vinson, My Blue Baby left the starting gate fastest and before going a sixteenth of a mile was in front by a pair of lengths with the public choice forcing the pace and For Country and Early Dream closely lapped. As the field reached the far turn and made the curve into the stretch the ultimate winner increased her margin to three lengths while Early Dream moved into the runner-up position and Endicate dropped back to third. An eighth from the finish, the roan filly, still maintained a three-length lead over Early Dream who was the same margin in advance of For Country who had some trouble entering the stretch and dropped back to fifth after racing third during the early running. When straightened for the run home, My Blue Baby continued to widen on her field and at the end was five lengths before Early Dream. The winner was the third choice in the-wagering and returned 3.40. It was the second winner on the program for Vinson as he previously handled Countess Miss to win the second race. Fans who coupled Countess Miss in the Daily Double with Fergies Mon, winner of the first race, received 12.80. Riding honors went to L. J. Colclasure who rode three winners, Fergies Mon in the first, Game Val in the third and Hachote in the fifth. Monday will once again be "dark," but the meeting is to be resumed Tuesday night with the regular eight-race program.
