Johnny MissionCon John Easy River Downs Victors Two Stout Favorites Dominate Early Races on Week-End Card By W. A. CRUSE RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, June 1. The choice bettors fared fairly well here this afternoon and in two of the first four events the favorite did win. In the first race Kermit Schnelles Johnny Mission and jockey Jesse Parsons were victorious. For the juveniles graduation from the maiden ranks, Parsons sent him out of the gate on -top, was never seriously challenged and was clodked the five furlongs over the muddy going in 1:03. An even-money favorite, he returned . W. R. and H. Ruff and R. Pedigos Coming Youth was a mild surprise as the winner of the second race. This good-looking four-year-old With Pleasure gelding and jockey Billy Gummow lasted to eke out a bewhiskered nose on the Loray Stables Dream OMoley and jockey Billy Phelps, the favorite combination in the betting. Coming Youth negotiated the six furlongs in 1:16 flat and returned 5.20, .40 and .80 across. The Daily Double was 1.00. R. C. Deckers Silbo turned in her first victory in todays third event since she. broke her maiden at Beulah Park on Sep- tember 25, 1955. Under jockey Gilbert Ro-sers handling the five-year-old Syls Jimmy mare went six panels in 1:16. For those who attended the races on a rather warm, muggy afternoon a 5.80 mutuel was the reward. Robert Herrens Con John was the sec-ond favorite to win in the first four races. The altered sophomore son of Tintagel and apprentice James Fowler were two and one-half lengths the best of J. B. Spurlocks Miss Rowdy and jockey Gilbert Roser, the second choice in the betting. The time for the mile and seventy yards over the heavy racing strip was 1:49 and was the return.
