MENDWELL moved boldly from the quarter pole, joined the leaders from the inside and prevailed under pressure. JERRYS GEM was hard pressed while in front and gained the nod over ALTER EGO. The latter raced for command and lacked a late spurt. HOME BOY loomed a threat from the inside and hung. LARKING NIZ could not keep pace. The latter wrested command at the furlong pole, gave way soon thereafter and was again wearing down the top one. LOVE-A-CHANCE weakened after having held a clear lead on the turn. RAES REWARD rallied mildly. MAM0WLEE lacked a rally. MY PLEASURE was always far back. MISSILEMAN was outrun. SKY POINT displayed speed and lugged in while weakening. RALPH MARGOLIES was outdistanced. WESTRAY rallied well to wrest command from the outside near the furlong pole, then gave way in the final strides. DEEP RUN weakened after having been within striking distance to the stretch. FRANK AGAIN, unhurried while far back early, took the overland route while improving his position and gained a narrow victory over LORD GREGOR. The latter saved ground while following the pace, was forced to steady briefly along the hedge leaving the backstretch, moved through to attain command when straightened for the drive and just missed. LIMOGES joined the leader from the outside on the final turn and weakened. CORNPLASTER lacked a rally. TEDS JOY gave way after having held a commanding advantage for about five furlongs. PORTER GRATA set the pace under rating, drew clear nearing the stretch and faltered. AMPLITUDE was crowded along the hedge on the first turn.
