Madonna and Fernicola Share Wheeling Double; Pace Ranks WHEELING DOWNS. Wheeling. W. Va.. May 6. — Trainer Louis Madonna, whose horses have been racing in sensational fashion, saddled another double last night when his four-year-old filly Polly Drake won the second race and the three-year-old colt Gun Strap took down the fifth. Both thoroughbreds were ridden by Nick Fernicola who is now leading jockey here with 16 winners against Willie Downs 14. Madonna forged to the front again last night bringing his total victories to nine in the trainers division, while Jack Lafayette remained at seven. Walter Wilkerson is third with four.
