California Turf Attendance of 5,046,280 California thoroughbred racing attracted more patrons, 5,046,280 than that of any other state, a statistical table in the 1959 edition of the 1959 American Racing Manual now on sale reveals. In fact, one out of every six fans who witnessed races in the United States last year did so in California. Harness racing included, however, the Manual table shows that New York State easily outdistanced all others in total attendance with 11,778,384 patrons.
