Assault, Flash Burn Triumphs Point Out Mares at King Ranch DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 24. Breeding pundits will study with renewed interest the bloodlines of several of the King Ranch broodmares following the triumph of that stables Flash Burn in Saturdays Diamond State Stakes. Flash Burn is out of the mare, Incandescent, and she is out of the mare, Masda, who was the first foal of Mahubah, dam of Man o War. Masda, also being by Fair Play and therefore a full sister to Man o War. Similarly, King Ranchs Assault is out of the mare, Igual, whose own dam was Incandescent. Viewing the female lines of both Assault and Flash Burn, it is reasonable to credit much of the racing qualities of these two to the mare, Incandescent. King Ranch, owning both Igual and Incandescent, seems to give them a strong hand for future mating with Bold Venture, now head sire on the vast acreage of King Ranch. Flash Burn gave some indication of his class earlier this spring, when trainer Max Hirsch sent him along with Assault in that colts final training effort for the Preak-ness. The lesser light of the stable ran right along with Assault in such easy fashion that observers commented on him.
