SIR JOHN S., showing good speed, was rushed into the lead shortly after the start, shook off JACK HOWE on the lower turn and, drawing away, won easily. OVER ROSE, well placed in the early running, saved ground on the lower turn, finished gamely, but was not good enough. ROSY DOON lacked early speed, lost ground while moving up and finished gamely. SAUCY MARIA, outrun early, worked her way up on the outside, closed with a rush in the stretch and finished gamely, getting up to win in the last few strides. HUMBLE ISSUE, well up. in the early part, took the lead entering the stretchy held on gamely in the drive but tired slightly at the end. MT. WASHINGTON broke well but, allowed to drop back, lost much ground by racing wide, finished gamely in the stretch and might have been best. INMEMORY started slowly and finished gamely. MARCONIA rushed into the lead on the inside, saved ground all the way, held on gamely in the drive and finished well. TEXAS MISS, well placed in the early running, closed with a rush in the stretch and was going gamelv at the end. ADULATION forced the early pace but tired slightly in the final eighth. The latter, away well, moved up fast, took the lead on the lower turn, held on gamely in the drive but tired right at the end. JOCKANA showed I early speed, was rushed into a short lead after the break, held on well but was not good enough. UNCLE I MITCH was prominent all the way. CHIEFS PRIDE pulled up lame. GRIDDLE CAKE, outrun early, moved up rapidly when straightened out on the back stretch, lost ground on the lower turn, took the lead nearing the end but was doing his best at the end to stall off MARIO. The latter appeared sore going to the post and, far back early, closed with a rush in the stretch and would have won in another stride. GOOGIE, away well, was sent into the lead at the first turn, was in close quarters when BROWN BROTHER moved up, came on gamely in the stretch and finished well. ST. MICA, also annoyed when BROWN BROTHER came over entering the back stretch, recovered quickly, drew, clear on the lower turn, but tired in the final sixteenth. BROWN BROTHER took the lead on the back stretch but tired badly in the final eighth. WELL BUILT stumbled on the upper turn, then dropped far back. Scratched 43317 Catwalk, 113; 43139 El Toto. 100.
