1 LAT0NIA TURF MOTES I Colonel M. J. Winn,, president of Churchill Downs-Latonia, Inc., -will be absent from Latonia until the middle of next week, remaining in Chicago to witness the heavyweight championship battle between Jimmy Braddock and Joe Louis. Jockey Arthur Craig, accompanied by his agent, Johnny Daniels, got away for Salem, N. H., where he will resume riding with the opening of Rockingham Park Monday. J. R. Gregory, trainer of the W. E. Snyder Stable, is up and around again after being confined to his home. Mose Goldblatt is pointing Dnieper for the Cincinnati Enquirer Handicap, which is to be decided next Saturday at Latonia. R. S. Byrum, trainer of the stable of racing commissioner C. Lr. Croan, reported that ! he has taken over the two-year-old Suzanus I to train for Mrs. G. A. Stallings. Jockey G. Fowler, who is well up among the leading riders at Latonia, was forced to refrain from accepting mounts Friday due to an abscessed ear, which he had I lanced. Hie is hopeful of filling his engagement on Shining Heels Saturday in the Clip-jsetta Stakes. j C. H. Ferguson, Georgetown turfman, received confirmation of his stall reservations at Thistle Down, and will ship his useful string td the Cleveland course at the close of the Latonia season.
