Noel Chilcutt, at 29, a veteran of the starting gates, is coming back to preside at Ak-Sar-Bens race meeting, scheduled to open May 27 and continue to the Fourth of July. Last year, his first term at Ak-Sar-Ben, Chilcutt established an enviable record. His alertness and efficiency from the starters box made him a favorite of owners, jockeys and the public. There were no "bad" starts chalked up against his 1938 Ak-Sar-Ben record and racing officials were ha- py to have him. return for a second term. As associate of Eddie Thomas, who was Ak-Sar-Ben starter many years ago, young Chilcutt has risen to top ranking. He has been serving under Thomas at Santa Anita, Tanf oran and Bay Meadows during the winter. Chilcutt has informed W. H. Schellberg, chairman of the Ak-Sar-Ben racing committee, that he will be in Omaha early in May to assist in schooling horses.
