RACING COMMISSION MEETING Kentuckys Turf Rulers in Routine Session Approve Keeneland and Latonia Dates Smith Presides. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 13. The Kentucky Racing Commission held its annual spring meeting in its offices here last night to accept the report of the license committee. Other business transacted was approval of the officials for the Keeneland and Churchill Downs meetings, and dates for Latonia, which had been verbally approved by chairman John N. Camden. Latonia opens June 29 and runs through July 29. L. G. Thicsen was appointed telegraph censor to act at Keeneland and Dade Park, and G. Gnau was appointed censor for the Churchill Downs and Latonia meetings. Don Meade, who was restored to good standing last fall by the Florida Racing Commission, has not applied for a license to ride in Kentucky. In the absence of chairman Camden, W. E. Smith, vice-chairman, presided. Other members present were C. L. Croan, S. S. Combs and Polk Laffoon. Thomas Underwood, secretary, also was present. Maurice L. Galvin, attorney for the commission, notified the body that the Kentucky unemployment board had ruled that racing was a seasonable industry and thereby did not come under its jurisdiction. Among the applications held for further consideration was that of jockeys L. "Buddy" Ensor, who staged a comeback in Florida; W. S. Lilley, P. Keester, E. Roehm, J. Barba and R. Tilden.
