SHASTA PLAY, close to SALSITA in the early running, moved to the front of the latter in the stretch, but bore out in the last eighth to interfere with HOLLYWOOD ZAR and managed to hold the latter in a drive. HOLLYWOOD ZAR, racing as if best, was permitted to drop far back of the early leaders, then moved up very fast after leaving the back stretch and would probably have won but for the interference. SALSITA made the pace, but was not good enough in the drive. SERBIAN ROSE lacked early speed, but came gamely when too late. DYKE SHOOTER and ALL SPADES were in trouble early.
