BUYS VAN TASSELS CONTRACT PAWTUCKET, R. I., April 13. Announcement of a notable addition to the jockey colony at Narragansett Park, was received today when George Getchell wired from San Mateo, Calif, that he had acquired the contract on Warren Van Tassel, Waltham, Mass., boy, who has been riding sensationally in the West. Van Tassel, whose contract was purchased from Ray Seldon, was the leading rider at Tanforan in 1938 and finished second among the riders at Santa Anita this winter. In 1938, Van Tassel had 305 mounts, finished first sixty times and accounted for thirty-three seconds and thirty-six thirds, for a total money win of 4,017. Getchell wired that he would arrive at Narragansett in plenty of time for the opening, April 22.
