SMART TRICK TO RUN IN OAKS LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 22. Smart Trick, one of the best three-year-old filly prospects, will make her 1939 bow at Churchill Downs where her most important engagement will come inthe sixty-fifth running of the Kentucky Oaks. Owned by Morris Ve-hon of Chicago, this splendid daughter of Cohort and Princess Edith was nominated for the Kentucky Derby, but her trainer, Jake Lowenstein, announced some time ago that she would not be asked to oppose colts and geldings until later in the year. Two stake triumphs were included among her first year successes, the Vehon filly defeating Ciencia, later winner of the Santa Anita Derby, in the Prairie State Stakes at Washington Park, and winning the Hawthorne Autumn Handicap. She was succerr- ful in two other engagements last year, and before starting in the Kentucky Oaks on May 13 is to take part in one prep race.
