HAVRE DE GRACE NOTES 9 9 Frank G. Menke, director of publicity at Churchill Downs and other leading tracks, was a visitor at Havre de Grace Saturday. Menke was here principally to get a line on the Derby candidates starting in the Chesapeake Stakes. Jockey Eddie Arcaro arrived from Keene-land Park to ride Day Off for the Green-tree Stable in the Chesapeake Stakes. Arcaro returns to Keenelahd for a few days and then will head for New York. W. E. Boeing, airplane manufacturer, arrived from California to inspect his horses and witness the performances of Air Speed, Buffoon, Murph, Air Chute, Porters Mite and Lady Jaqueline, all of which raced Saturday. Charles J. McLennan departed for Boston to confer with officials of the Eastern Racing Association, operating Suffolk Downs. He will return here in time to make out the program lor Monday. John P. Turner, Sr., reported that nominations for the valuable stakes to be offered by the Delaware Steeplechase and Race Association were gratifying. The nominations will be compiled and released shortly. J. P. Ross, Sr., track superintendent at Havre de Grac"e and Delaware Park, revealed that the ground in the six furlongs chute at Delaware Park has been raised ten inches. Work was recently completed. At the end of the first full week of racing at Havre de Grace jockey C. Stevenson leads the riders for the 00 gold watch offered by Edward Burke. Jockey V. Polk, with six winners, is in advance of the other riders. Jockey Eddie DeCamillas arrived from Jamaica to handle Cockerel, Arbitrage and Chaps for Alvin Untermyer. He returned to Long Island after filling the engagements. Apprentice A. Balducci stated that he would ply his trade at Charles Town, W. Va., when the meeting opens. The second and final edition of the condition book for the meeting of the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association was released to horsemen, Friday, by racing secretary C. J. McLennan.
