RUNNING CEDAR, much the best, shook off SILVER BEECH and NEWS SWEEP in the first eighth, drew away into a long lead and won as her rider pleased. NEWS SWEEP moved up to force the pace soon after the start and held on well, but was no match for the winner. GAY BRAS, away slowly, responded to punishment in the third quarter and was going gamely at the close. MEDDLE MARK turned in an even performance. ROSENEATH lacked speed. SCOUTING GIRL, nicely handled, went into the lead soon after the start, drew clear, saved ground entering the stretch and was subjected to strong urging in the final sixteenth to hold STEM-WINDER safe. The latter was close to the pace from the start, moved up on the outside entering the stretch and was catching the winner at the end. SALLY SAXON, away none too well, gradually improved her position, but failed to threaten the leaders in the final drive. ETHYLN. never far from the pace, was going well at the finish. SUPER POWER, going in his best form, followed the pace closely from the start, raced into the lcad after a turn of the field, shook off RIDING HOOD and drew out nicely in the final quarter mile. RIDING HOOD took command at once, showed good speed throughout and held on willingly in the final issue. NEVER LATE, well up all the way, failed to improve his position when called upon. SAFE PORTE tired after being a strong contender for a mile. IDA REGAN never threatened the leaders. PENTHAROS refused at the twelfth jump. The others were outclassed. The latter forced the pace from the start, moved into a slight lead approaching the stretch, but was no match for the winner in the final eighth. THE WINK, strongly handled throughout, dropped back slightly midway of the lower turn, then came again strongly while racing on the outside. NAMEOKI raced evenly throughout. FALERMIAN, outrun early, came through next to the inner rail entering the stretch and closed fast. SACA-KAWA, shuffled back after the start, failed to threaten thereafter. BLACK RIBBON displayed good early speed, but quit in the final eighth. EXPLORER showed speed, but could not stay with the leaders when placed under pressure. ROCKVALE lacked speed.
