ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., July 27. In a slowly run race, Mrs. Emil Denemarks Finance broke in front, and stayed there, to win the fourth and best event on todays card at Arlington Park. The seven-year-old son of Bull Dog had to cover the six furlongs in no faster time than 1:12 to lead by a comfortable margin throughout and complete the distance three lengths in advance of his nearest rival. Second money went to Morris Vehons Opera Star, as Mrs. G. B. Scallons Joyride tan third, and A. G. Tarns Wise Fox fourth." J. A. Vickers Arcadian and Mrs. A. M. Brysons Winter Sea proved herself the best of a field of juvenile fillies which met over the five and one-half furlongs of the fifth race, another of the better ones. This daughter of Halcyon Thais withstood a sharp stretch drive to land home in front by a head at even money. Valdina Nymph was second and Arline third. The winner was ridden by Johnny Longden, who returned to the saddle today after having served a brief suspension for foul riding. A. G. Tarns Windshield registered his fourth straight triumph, and Johnny Longden his second of the day, when this combination accounted for the sixth race, a sprint of one mile. Never a great distance back, and restrained for more than a half-mile, Windshield moved up fast when called upon On the stretch turn. He raced past the tiring pacemaker, Greeny, after reaching the stretch and pulled away, to win by two and a half lengths. ISOLENE SURPRISES. - A long shot, another of the many which have been getting home in front here this week, scored in ii.o zzven furlongs opener, in which Joe Binstocks much raced Isolene turned back eleven other cheaper platers. With Chai-les Rollins at the reins, Isolene was never a great distance back and when called upon in the drive she responded readily. Another outsider got home in the second race, a dash of five and a half furlongs, which went to Howard Wells Equifox. Count Happy was second, Sundodger third and the favorite, Sustainer, out of the picture. This winner paid 8.20 for the "Daily Double," based on the combined efforts of Isolerie and Equifox, paid 39.80. Paul Ryan had the Wells colt away with the leaders, steadied him along to the stretch and then put him to a drive, to which he responded gamely. He wore down the pacemaking Sundodger inside the last sixteenth and then stalled off Count Happy to score by a head. Count Happys advantage over Sundodger was a half length. Sustainer was in hottest pursuit of the pacemaker to the last quarter and then steadily gave way. FAVORITE BEATEN. The favorite went down to defeat in the six furlonjs third race, too, the strongly supported Red War finishing out of the picture after racing well up to the stretch. The winner here was the Millsdale Stables Teddys Girl, handled by J. E. Oros. Broken Pieces was second and On Quest third. Broken Pieces had the most early speed here and held a comfortable advantage deep into the stretch, but she was no match for Teddys Girl, which passed her inside the last eighth and drew out to score by three and a half lengths.
