r- ; , KAYAK II. TO BE POINTED j I FOR GANSETT SPECIAL j PAWTUCKET, A. I., July 27. Kayak II., Hollywood Gold Cup winner and rated to date as the champion handicap horse of the year, will head East on August 13 with Nar-ragansett Park and the 5,000 Narragansett Special as the goal of owner C. S. Howard. A telegram from a member of the Howard stable staff, reached Narragansett Park officials today, informing them that the South American thoroughbred was being pointed for the Special and that he would be acclimated at Saratoga, where others of the Howard stable will race. Advices from the West are to the effect that Howard will keep his stable in the East for both the summer and the fall campaigns. Kayak II., stablemate of Seabiscuit, has proved to be another "bargain" horse for the West Coast sportsman. Purchased for ,000, he now has earned 35,480. In winning the Hollywood Gold Cup last Saturday, Kayak II. set a new track record of 2:02, chipping a fifth of a second off the mark set by Sea-biscuit and Shining One. Lin Howard, son of C. S. Howard and co-owner with Bing Crosby of the Binglin Stable, will also race at Narragansett during the summer meeting, and their stable star, another South American importation named Ligaroti, may run in the Special. Binglin Stable has applied for and has been granted stalls and will ship to Narragansett early in August.
