JAPAN CHARGES "POLITICS" TOKYO, Japan, July 27. The Japanese government today termed "regrettable" President Roosevelts denunciation of the Japanese-American trade treaty of 1911 but at the same time charged that "political rather than economic motives" were responsible. The official Japanese reaction was transmitted by Kenkich Yoshizawa, head of the American department of the Japanese foreign office, to American Charge dAffaires Eugene Dooman. The official Japanese news k agency, Domei, broadcast an authoritative release attacking the American stand and predicting that from an economic point of view it would ultimately harm the United States more than Japan. The Tokyo Stock Exchange slumped, with key issues declining S sharply, although a lew stocks gained BS slightly.
