THISTLE DOWN TURF NOTES 1 : $ Jockey W. Page was fined 0 for nrit turning his whip over to the paddock judge when trainer A. Bennie instructed him not to use it on Alwintour in the sixth race Wednes- day. In the event an owner or trainer instructs a rider not to use a whip, the rider is supposed to turn it over to the paddock judge. This rule is the same as the one inaugurated at Detroit. J ockey C. Martinez was fined for striking Rough Lane across the head while pulling him up after the finish of the first race Wednesday. Rough Lane bore out badly during the run through the stretch. Mummer was excused from filling her engagement Wednesday when trainer J P Keezek reported she popped a blind splint Pompeys Pillar, the property of A C Snyder, was sent to E. K. Thomas farm where he will be turned out for the summer Eleven claims were filed during the first eleven days of the Thistle Down meeting. Mrs. E. H. Beezley is the most active among the claimers. - Jockey Douglas West left for Bel Air and J. Conroy departed for Washington Park.
