JANICE, going in her best form and superbly ridden, was taken in hand for the first three-eighths, came through on the inside to dispose of ANNS PRINCESS, then continued gamely under strong urging to outstay SOUTHLAND BEAU. The latter, under snug restraint and not far out of it for the first half mile, moved up with a rush and got to the leader a sixteenth out, but was not good enough. ANNS PRINCESS was rushed into the lead soon after the start, set the pace under pressure for the first three-eighths, then tired. HELLO CAP, prominent throughout, faltered when placed to pressure. MISS TAOS, well handled and under light restraint in the early stages, worked her way up on the outside steadily, responded quickly to strong urging and wore down TIPSY PUDDING. The latter followed in closest pursuit of the pacemaker for most of the way, assumed a slight lead in the last three-sixteenths, but could not retain her advantage. SERENATA MAID, well up throughout and saving much ground, held on well in the drive. BETCHA, far back for three-quarters, made up ground rapidly thereafter. CAN-U-TELL opened up a good lead after entering the back stretch, but tired after three-quarters. TRYEM began slowly and was never a factor. BLOSSOM QUEEN was through after a half mile. SIVA, restrained off the pace for five-eighths, was in close quarters when attempting to make his bid, improved his position rapidly when clear and wore down WHISTLING DICK in the last seventy yards. WHISTLING DICK forced the pace to the upper turn under snug restraint, quickly disposed of PORTMORA and opened up a good lead, but could not withstand the winner. CHIGRE, away well and taken in hand, was bumped by SUPREME FLAG rounding the turn, then recovered quickly and finished well. SUPREME FLAG, on the outside throughout and never far back, swerved repeatedly in the stretch. AGNES KNIGHT trailed for most of the way and worked out a mile and a half in 2:35. CROSS RUFF improved his position steadily after going five-eighths, was forced to race wide and was bumped within the last twenty yards by UNCLE JULY. The latter, a sharp factor from the start, moved up threateningly in the last quarter, but tired near the end. ARNOLDS ACTOR was much used forcing the pace and "tired. FAIR FLAG quit.
