ISOLENE, unable to improve her position early but not strongly persevered with until the final quarter, came with a rush after straightening out in the stretch and drew out in the last eighth. BOSTON SOUND was a strong factor from the start, was in hand for five-eighths and held on fairly well. WILD WEST, well up after a quarter and raced wide, held on with determination and was wearing down BOSTON SOUND. I CHASE began slowly and was kept on the inside to the last eighth, where he closed boldly. MOISSON had no mishaps. DARK ZENI could not get up. TELLWHY was placed outside the stalls for the start. LA MONTE showed speed under hustling tactics, but quit badly. EQUIFOX, well up from the start, improved his position somewhat while under restraint on the stretch turn, came with determined and good speed in the last three-sixteenths and, wearing down SUNDODGER, withstood COUNT HAPPYS bid. COUNT HAPPY, slow to settle into a good stride, saved ground on the turn, came out in the stretch and, closing with high speed, might hava gotten up in a few more strides. SUNDODGER had speed from the start, saved ground after drawing clear on the turn, increased his advantage in the stretch and held on well, but could not withstand the late charges of tjie winner and COUNT HAPPY. GINGER TED raced evenly. ST. CROIX tired in the drive. THATS ME closed fast. SUSTAINER quit after showing speed to the stretch. DEEBA lost much ground. XLYDE TOLSON was outrun. . TEDDYS GIRL began to move up slowly after reaching the turn, responded to brisk pressure after entering the stretch where she was directed between horses, then got to the front in the last sixteenth and drew out rapidly. BROKEN PIECES had the most speed from the start, was under strong riding after a half mile and tired in the late stages, but outstayed ON QUEST. ON QUEST, forced to race wide, was under stout urging in the last five-sixteenths and held on fairly well. RIB ROAST finished well. OVID could not get to the leaders. RED WAR had speed, but was through after five-eighths. EL JUEZ displayed only mild speed for a half mile, then quit. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE. Myrtlewood, July 22, 1935 1:09 3 113. FINANCE, away fast, drew out easily and saved ground after the first eighth, was steadied rounding the turn, responded to mild urging in the stretch and was racing strongly at ihe. .c!ose OPERA STAR, taken back when racing between JOYRIDE and WISE FOX approaching the turn, was not immediately subjected to energetic riding after getting clear, continued well out of serious contention on the turn, rallied when roused in the stretch and, disposing of JOYRIDE, was racing stoutly at the close. JOYRIDE was well in hand early, swerved on the stretch turn and again in the last three-sixteenths, then tired under light pressure after five-eighths. WISE FOX raced wide, dropped back suddenly entering the stretch, and showed nothing thereafter. ARCADIAN was outrun. REAPING lacked speed throughout. FIFTH RACE 5 1-2 FURLONGS. WINTER SEA, eased back when unable to secure room between horses leaving the back stretch, moved up slightly when racing very wide on the stretch turn, quickly overtook VALDINA NYMPH when straightened in the stretch, then tired, but outstayed VALDINA NYMPH. The latter, well up from the start, was under strong urging after reaching the last five-sixteenths, placed DOGGIE PAM in close quarters entering the stretch, failed to withstand the winner, yet held on well. ARLINE finished resolutely in her good effort. DOGGIE PAM had speed and was tiring when impeded on the stretch turn. ALPOISE showed a flash of early speed. Scratched 77304 Valdina Gold, 116. WINDSHIELD, steadied along while saving ground early, raced to the outside after a half mile, went into command gradually and without need of strong urging and easily held the race safe after seven-eighths, although he was under a light hand ride the final eighth. RISENFLY, away slowly and slow to respond, remained far out of it for three-quarters, raced with good belated speed thereafter and sustained the rush to the end. BASQUE also closed well after being outrun to the final quarter. EASY SAILING raced wide, rallied stoutly in the last three-sixteenths and was strongest at the end, CRITT tired. GREENY quit badly after showing speed to the stretch. COMMISSION gave way suddenly on the stretch turn and continued to fall back thereafter. BEAU INSCO was through early. CHICHARRA, well ridden and always clear, moved up steadily while racing under smooth reserve the first three-quarters, gradually wore down PEPPER BOX, then drew out to win in handy fashion. PEPPER BOX had speed from the start, was on the inside atfer a half mile, slowly succumbed to the winners challenge and tired sharply in the late stages, but withstood the bid of INDUCE. The latter started to improve his position on the stretch turn, closed well and was rapidly overtaking PEPPER BOX. JOCKAWAY began slowly and remained far out of it to the stretch, where he closed ground. MARS MAN was badly off stride while trailing early, raced wide on the stretch turn and Finished evenly. AGOTARAS took command quickly, made the pace under steady reserve to the stretch, rallied when lightly shaken up and tired sharply near the close, winning under strong pressure. LEE TORCH was under a snug hold for seven-eighths, came to the extreme outside in the stretch and closed in resolute fashion. INVINCIBLE started to work his way up after three-quarters; and hung briefly entering the stretch, but rallied strongly in the last eighth and was getting to the leaders. RESPHA tired in the drive. SANTAN had early speed. CARDIBRE had no mishaps. MORUN ran out badly from the start and was pulled up after nearing the outside rail on the final turn. Scratched 78165 Banola, 106.
