Five-Man Track Squad Named To Compete in British Meets NEW YORK, N. Y., May 31 UP.— Five United States indoor track and field champions, including 15-foot pole vaulter Bob Richards, will leave by plane June 5 for a three-meet tour of Scotland and England, the National Amateur Athletic Union announced today.. Besides Richards, of the Illinois Athletic Club, the group will be made up of sprinter Eddie Conwell, quarter-miler Hugo Mai-occo and half-miler Roscoe Browne, all of the New York Pioneer Club, and Curtis Stone, New York Athletic Club distance runner. The Americans will compete at Glasgow on June 9 before moving to England for meets at Middlesboro on June 11 and at Darlington on June 13. The tour is the third of six 1951 foreign trips arranged by the AAU. The men will return to New York on June 14. The remainder of the tour schedule calls for 11 athletes to go to Japan, 12 to Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany and Austria, and 15 to England, Scotland, Iceland and Norway. The makeup of these squads will be determined by performances in the National AAU outdoor championships at Berkeley, Calif., June 22-23.
