Knowles to Meet De La Maze For French Amateur Crown , CHANTTLLY, France, May 31 UP.— TJ. S. Walker Cup. star Bob Knowles of Brookline, Mass., won two matches today to reach the finals of the French Amateur Golf Championship along with defending titleholder Henri De LaMaze of France. Knowles will meet De LaMaze, who has won the French title for the past four straight years, in a 36-hole match for the championship tomorrow. The steady New Englander, accompanied by his French-speaking wife, who acted as interpreter, first eliminated Michel Carl-hian of France, 1 up, in the morning quarter-final round, and then beat Albert Prunet of France, 3 and 2, in the afternoon semi-finals. • De LaMaze advanced to the title round for the, fifth straight year by defeating Hobart Manley of Savannah, Ga.„ TJ. S. North and South Amateur champion, 2 and 1 in the semi-finals, after trimming Jacques Bechmann of France, 5 and 4, in the morning.
