Daily Racing Form Speed Ratings The handicappers and statisticians of DAILY RACING FORM have evolyed a Speed Ratine; system that is far superior to any yet devised. Instead of being based merely on track records, the ratings are based primarily en the constant, or mean, speed of the track, allowances thas being made for variation in footing:. By this method, when a horse earns a ratine; of, say 85, for a six-farleng race at Belmont Park, he earns the same rating by the same effort at any other track. Speed ratings are shewa in the past performances after the claiming price or race classification.
