, . Citation Now ,000 Closer To Million-Dollar Objective HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 31. — Calumet Farms Citation today is ,000 closer to his million-dollar objective as a result of his performance in the Argonaut Handicap here on Memorial Day, but he was three lengths short of victory. In finishing second in that 5,-000 added run of a mile and a sixteenth, which was witnessed by a holiday crowd of 58,512 fans, the worlds greatest money winner was beaten that far by A. J. Crevo-lins hard-running Be Fleet. Citations total gleanings now amount to 44,460 and with the 5,000 Inglewood Handicap, the 0,000 American, the 00,-000 Hollywood Gold Cup and the 0,000 Sunset still awaiting the horses in his division he still has plenty of opportunities to attain the goal set for him before his permanent retirement. Citation made, his bid for victory in the Argonaut on the second turn and for a time it appeared he might make it, but Be Fleet, who ran the pacemaking Coaltown into the ground entering the homestretch, quickly opened a big lead under the guidance of Johnny Longden and old Cy could not make up the difference. The victory was worth 8,900 to Be Fleets owner. Sturdy One, owned by Mr. and Mrs. F. N. Phelps, was a bang-up third in the Argonault and Bewitch, also representing Calumet, was fourth. Coaltown finished far back.
