Eight Sophomores Meet 13 In Needham at Suffolk Daughter C. Looms Favorite Over Revokar and Little Step SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 31.— Eight sophomores are slated to meet in the six-furlong Needham Purse which features tomorrows off-day card at Suffolk Downs. Included in the line-up are Woodley Lane Farms Revokar and Mur-%logg Farms Little Step, aspirants for the renewal of the rich Yankee Handicap which will be run here on June. 18. Greenbrier Stables Daughter C, by virtue of a second and a pair of "thirds at tomorrows distance, looms as the probable favorite in the Needham. The daughter of Hoop Jr. — Cloud Sweeper has failed to win a purse this season, but off .last, years record, when she accounted for four triumphs, and her satisfactory efforts this season, tomorrow may be the day to get back in winning form. Under the conditions of the race, Daughter C. is only burdened with 105 pounds. Revokar is still a maiden but a third at Keeneland behind Fanfare and Docility seems enough endorsement to earn recognition in the Needham. That race was the first start of the year for the Revoked— Ever Dear colt and he followed it with another third at Churchill Downs. As a juvenile, Revokar was campaigned in Kentucky and Chicago, taking a pair of thirds in six starts. He gets in tomorrows sprint with 110 pounds. Skeeter Catalano is listed as the rider. Little Step is another who has started three times this season. His last was a second behind Dannas Pensive, after leading in the stretch. A consistent performer as a two-year-old in this sector last season, the son of Fighting Step — Little Lymph is bound to have many supporters in tomorrows test. J. J. Messinas Summer Cruise, T. W. Reardons Descentive, D. Katz Thistle, Jay, E. B. Ogdens Flying Boots and Mrs. Sam Orrs U. S. Navy round out the field in the Needham. Thistle Jay is the only member of the field which has been to the winners circle in 1951. During the past winter, the War Dog— Thistle Nancy colt won one race at Hialeah and duplicated his triumph at Gulfstream Park. On each occasion, Thistle Jay was meeting ,000 claimers and may find tomorrows eligibles a bit rougher to handle. j
