Cubs Edge Braves In Ninth, 5 to 4 Borkowski Singles Edwards Across Plate With Winning Run; Klippstein Earns Game By the United Press Bob Borkowskis single down the right field line with two out in the ninth inning scored Bruce Edwards from second base to give the Cubs a 5 to 4 victory over the Boston Braves before 6,546 fans in Wrig-ley Field. It was close until the finish. The score was tied at 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4. Each side used three pitchers. John Klippstein, who went only the ninth inning for the Cubs, when he struck out two and got the third batter to hit into a force play with two men on base, was credited with the win, his fourth of the season against three defeats. Vern Bickford started for the Braves and was tagged for a run in the second when Edwards walked, advanced on Borkowskis infield out and scored on Eddie Miksis single, his first hit as a Cub in three games and six times at bat. Hiller Scores in Fifth Bickford gave up another* run -in the fifth when pitcher Frank Hiller singled, reached second on .Hal Jeff coats sinete, third on Frankie Baumholtz infield out and counted on Jacksons infield out. The next Cub runs also were charged to Bickford in the sixth. With one out Dee Fondy hit into a fielders choice, batting for pitcher Frank Hiller, but reached second on the play and scored on Frankie Baumholtz hit. Then Jeffcoat scored as Baumholtz went to second on a double steal. All the Braves runs came in bursts of one. Sibbi Sisti singled in the third went to second on Buddy Kerrs fly and scored on Bob Addis single. In the fourth Bob Elliott doubled and scored on Ray Muellers single. Sid Gordon belted his 11th home run for the sixth inning tally.
