Add Two Juvenile Stakes To Program at Hollywood Charles E. Howard for Colts and . Geldings, Cinderella for Fillies HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 18. — Two extra 5,000 stakes races, to provide additional opportunities for fame and fortune for Hollywood Parks brilliant crop of two-year-olds, will Be added to the program during the current meeting, according to an announcement today by vice-president and general manager J. F. Mackenzie. They will be the 5,000 added Charles S. Howard Stakes for colts and geldings on Saturday, July 7, and the 5,000 added Cinderella Stakes for fillies on Wednesday, July 11. Both races will be run at five and one-half furlongs. Mr. Mackenzie also said that the Westerner, Hollywood Parks championship race for the three-year-olds, to be run June 30, will be increased in value from 5,000 to 0,000 added. In making his announcement, Mr. Mackenzie reiterated that Hollywood Park officials anticipate that the tracks overnight purse distribution will continue to be the richest in the nation this year. Addition of the Charles S. Howard and the Cinderella Stakes will increase Hollywood Parks stakes offerings for the season to 17, five being programmed for two-year-olds. Already run are the Hollywood Lassie, which was won by William Goetz That-away, and last Saturdays Haggin, which because of the size of the field was split into two divisions, with Bull Chicle winning the first and My Vengeance taking the second. The Charles S, Howard Stakes is named in honor of the late beloved California sportsman, whose Seabiscuit, Kayak n. and Noor all were Hollywood Gold Cup winners. The Cinderella stakes was introduced to the Hollywood Park stakes program in the 1950 fall meeting and was conditioned then for three-year-old fillies, Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts brilliant Next Move being the winner. Nominations for both the new two-year-old stakes will close Friday, June 29. .
