CATSMEOW, under light restraint during the early running, came out for the drive to assume command nearing the furlong marker, then in a long drive, gamely withoustood FIRST NIGHT. The latter moved up menacingly entering the stretch, but under * punishment was unable to reach the top one. DOCTOR L E. failed to make up appreciable ground. AUTO MESSAGE gave way suddenly after six furlongs. DEEP WATER had no mishap. FLATBUSH tired. FIRST SECURITY stumbled nearing the six furlong-marker and lost his rider. GLANCE, away alertly, was carried wide when the leaders drifted out on the final turn, responded readily when set down for the drive and under good handling was up in the final strides to outgame HOOPLA. The latter* reached the lead between calls during the stretch run and held on tenaciously. BROWN MATE raced SHELL DIVER into defeat to maintain a clear lead entering the stretch, then weakened. SHELL DIVER tired. SUNLO had no apparent excuse. COTTON TOP lacked speed, as did TILE MAN. AT FORTY showed nothing. Won driving; second and third the same; NUGGET GOLD, slow to reach best stride, forged between horses to enter closer contention entering the stretch and under brisk urging was up in the final stride to prevail over MR. NEALIE. The latter raced FRESH into defeat to take command nearing the furlong marker, weakened during the late stages and, though unable to hold the winner, was best of the others. TWO AND SIX raced evenly through the stretch without mishap. PETER VINEGAR closed a gap. IMPULSIVE SAM and COYNES EDGAR were outrun. KING DIVER raced wide. FRESH quit badly once displaced. OFF AT 3:301 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. LE MONDE, prominent from .the start while racing on the outside, responded to punishment during the late stages and, after reaching the lead, gradually drew clear. QUICK SOLUTION outsprinted his rivals on the first turn while having ground, next to the rail, drifted out, interfering with DOWN DE LANE inside the sixteenth marker and again at the finish, was disqualified for fouling and placed third. DOWN DE LANE raced in nearest pursuit of the - early leader, was forced to take up during the stretch run when bothered by QUICK SOLUTION and as a result was unable to withstand the top ones. BLUE LICKS came out for the drive,, but was not good enough. EPERC lacked speed. STUYVESANT and GOYONDER were never formidable. ELMBOROUGH was not unduly persevered with when hoplelessly beaten. F., never far back, came out to the middle of the track for the ultimate test and, under clever hanaling,. was along in the final stride to prevail over ROBUST. The latter held a slight lead entering the stretch while racing on the outside of SUNSHINE NELL and held on courageously. SUNSHINE NELL engaged ROBUST to the stretch while racing next to the inside rail, faltered slightly during the drive and could not withstand the leaders. BLACK DOUGLAS, Sway tardily, was taken up sharply nearing the three-furlong marker for no apparent reason, came out for the drive, but failed to make up appreciable ground. LIGHT MOON was always between horses. TIGER HARRIS failed to attain the lead and tired. HOLLY SWEET saved ground to no avail. Scratched— 30383 Pharos Brother, 110. JOHNS JOY, in nearest pursuit of the early leader, took command with a rush entering the stretch and steadily drew clear. The winner worked out seven furlongs in 1:22%. ROMAN BATH gave way to JOHNS JOY approaching the furlong marker, but remained, diligently at his task to outfinish PROP. The latter, outrun early as usual, forged between horses during the stretch run and closed with good courage. UNBRIDLED showed high speed from the beginning, but was unable to keep up. CURANDERO passed tiring horses. CIRCUS CLOWN failed to respond when called upon for his best effort. YELLMANTQWNjifailed to attain the lead and tired. WINE LIST lacked speed. WESTHAMPTON made the pace to the stretch under .steady rating and Increased his advantage thereafter when ridden out. MASTER MIND . finished resolutely on the outside, but was unable to seriously endanger the leader. SYNDICATE, guided to the inside for the final test, lacked a menacing rally. UNDER PRESSURE failed to stay. SIGNAL CODE came between horses for the drive, but was not good enough. BOGALUSA had no mishap. MR. BAM, much used early, had nothing left. AUTAN, slow to reach best stride, came to the complete outside entering the stretch, assumed command inside the final sixteenth and won drawing away. WH I RLTOWN reached the lead between calls during the stretch run and easily was best of the others.. LUTZ GIRL held sway until well inside the stretch before faltering. REIGHS COMET passed tiring horses. RIOT, sluggish to begin, was rushed into contention on the outside going into the initial turn and tired as a result of his early efforts.
