Atomic Might Seeking Repeat at Sportsmans Covered Mile in 2:05% in First Start of Chicago Downs Meeting SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, HI., June 18. — The ,000 dash purse for the seventh race Tuesday night drew an outstanding class of pacers in a junior free for all at Sportsmans Park. Atomic Might, six-year-old brown stallion owned by Otis Anderson of Lafayette", Ind., goes to the post with the best mile of the year at Cicero and will be out for his second victory in a row here. Thursday night Atomic Might took on some of the same horses he faces Tuesday and did his mile trip in 2:05%, impressive anytime, but especially this early in the season. It was Atomic Mights first victory of the year after being out of the money his other two starts in 2:08 mile. It shows what can happen to a horse after a few races are tucked under his belt. It is pertinent when viewing the record of Thomas Hat, who was third to Atomic Might Thursday night. He comes back Tuesday with one race worked this year. It might just be the race he needed. At any rate the fans will be watching Thomas Hat because of the impressive 9,501 which will show on the program for his 1950 earnings. It included 11 victories in 32 starts, 23 times in the money. If Thomas gets sharp, a new track mark could be posted with Atomic Might and Thomas Hat dueling all the way. Hand Book also could add to the pressure off his place joo against Grattan Truax in 2:06%. A stretch runner, Dee Moore might sit back and allow the favorites to battle it out and save his burst for the pay-off. Knight Cash, driven by Len Landers, will be making his first 1951 start at Cicero. About this time last year he was unbeatable. The eight-year-old son of Cold Cash chalked up 10 victories, most of them in the spring of 1950 and earned ,500. Easter Grattan, Doc Mahers classy stake horse, also will cause plenty of trouble if he gets away well. The stake race Tuesday night is lor two-year-old pacers and drew a field of 10 horses including a two-horse entry from the Roy Riegle barn and a mutual field of Ruby G. Jester and Miss Nibs.
