► . i Bully Boy Tangles With Forrest Duo Double Winner at Detroit to Be Ridden by Darrell Madden, Leading Jockey of Meeting DETROIT, Mich., June 18,— Bully Boy is to carry Mrs. Otto C. Neumanns The Farm silks against five shifty rivals here tomorrow in the six-f urlbng Copper and Brass Purse. Under the allowance conditions of the feature sprint, the Neuman colt will take up 117 pounds and he is to be ridden by Darrell Madden, presently leading jockey at the current Livonia course meeting. Henry Forrest, prominent Kentucky turfman, is to send Old Tom, 112 pounds, and the speedy Traveler, 11 pounds, against Bully Boy, while others entered in the dash are A. and R. Craigs hard-hitting Suffki, 119; Mrs. George Schwab, Jr.s Vixen Rose, H4, and P. L. Grissoms Ida C, 103 pounds. Forrest announced this morning that apprentice Gerald Champagne will have the mount on dne of his charges; Tommy Barrow is to be astride Suffki, and Eddie Dan-hauer drew the saddle engagement for Vixen Rose. /Bully Boy, a double winner at. the local course this season, defeated Bee Lee Tee, Fancy Flyer, Fugitive and Ky. Colonel in the mile and one-sixteenth Sault Ste. Marie Purse June 2 and, previous to that victory, he annexed the three-quarters mile Anniversary Handicap. In the latter offering, the Neuman colt turned back practically the same field he met in the Sault Ste. Marie and his victorious margin was two lengths on James Alphara. Displayed High Speed Traveler and Old Tom make up a useful duo for the Forrest stable and both worked exceedingly well for this engagement. Traveler displayedhigh speed in his last local appearance, finishing third to Bee Lee Tee and Suffki after making the pace to the last eighth mile of the six-furlong Col. F. M." Alger Memorial Purse. Traveler was beaten slightly more than a length on that occasion and before that downed speedy rivals in two races at Oaklawn Park, stepping three-quarters in both starts in 1:10. While Traveler is the best rated of the Forrest pair, Old Tom comes to the head-liner with a record of three victories this year. Old Tom annexed the Plymouth Purse here June 1 and he also visited the winners circles at* Churchill Downs and Tropical Park. In the Plymouth, Old Tom skipped the three-quarters in 1:11% under 112 pounds. Vixen Rose made her 1951 debut here in the Belle Isle Purse and she won from Wintag, Ida C, Fine Art, Black Wing and Chombro in a-speedy 1:11% for the.six furlongs. Inasmuch as she came back to tfie races so cleverly after a long lay-up, her last 1950 start was at Churchill Downs in November, the Schwab mare probably will improve off her local outing and she is dangerous at the weights. Suffki, second in the Alger, also ran a dead-heat with Baby Comet in the Zenith Purse. An unusually game-running gelding, Suffki always has been a favorite with Motor City racing enthusiasts and he visited the winners rings atthe Detroit and Hazel Park tracks last year, also scoring at Churchill Downs over a shifty band during the autumn meet at the Derby oval. Ida C.s last race against Vixen Rose and Wintag in the Belle Isle Purse was excellent. The Grissom filly finished strongly and she was a bit more than a half length off the Schwab mare at the wire. Ida C. won three Florida event before her shipment north and,, lightly-weighted, could upset in the Copper and Brass with a "big race."
