Royal Mustang Returns to Turf Wars Wilson Colt Idle Since 1951 Classic Engages Seasoned Runners In Sun David, The Gink and Cacomo in Lincoln Top Race HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., June 12.— The four-year-old, Royal Mustang, from the stable of S«m E. Wilson, Jr., will make his first start of the year in the Brown Wisdom Purse here tomorrow. The colt, who finished second to Count Turf in the 1951 running of the Kentucky Derby, was rested up at High Hope Farm in Kentucky following his unplaced effort in the last Arlington Classic and although he accompanied his stablemates to New Orleans last winter and to Louisville this spring, he was not placed in competition. He was second in five stakes last season, one of those coming when he was runner-up to Pur Sang in the Peabody Memorial. Accompanying Royal Mustang as a running mate for the Brown Wisdom will be the imported colt, Golden Birch, who also raced with his more illustrious stable companion in the Derby. Golden Birch is by Golden Cloud, out of St. Rita by Her Highness, and was bred by O. Fitzpatrick. He failed to win last year and has also had a lengthy respite from turf activities. The Wilson pair will carry 108 pounds each, the topweights being Sun David and Cacomo, each 120. Cacomo is a former Arkansas Derby winner who defeated Recline in the Flat Iron Purse here last week. It was his fourth start of the meeting and he had not been to the post previously this season. He was unplaced to False in the Crete Handicap, third to Sun David, and second to Air Mail prior to registering his victory. Disqualified in 1950 Peabody Sun David, who will always be remembered as having had the misfortune to be disqualified after finishing in front in the 1950 Peabody Memorial, is a winner here. He defeated Ruhe, who later won the Nar- cissus Handicap, in thf Evergold Purse May 22. That was the event in which Ca- como was third. In his next outing Sun David was unplaced in the Edward J. Fleming Memorial Handicap that was won by Andy B. W. Sun David races in the interests of J. S. Bradley. Others in the Brown Wisdom are Brown Hotel Stables The Gink, P. J. McMullens Dry Run and Valenti Stables Lilly Valenti. The latter is the only mare in the event which is at six furlongs for a ,000 purse. Dry Run won his latest start of the current session when he defeated Free and Equal, Can Locate and others here May 21. He had previously won two purses in Florida. The Gink has compiled a consistent record against good horses this season, win-1 ning twice and earning a part of nine other purses in his 13 starts. He was fourth to Roman Bath in his latest start on May 31. Lily Valenti won three of her eight starts this year and finished second the same number of times. Her latest victory was scored at New Orleans over Thelma Berger, Ave and others. Tomorrows program also includes the Tiger Purse, another event for four-year-! olds and older horses, at six furlongs.
