OFF AT 2:31 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving: second and third the same. EMERGENCY HOUR broke more alertly than usual and gained a short lead early, drew clear on the stretch turn and lasted under extreme pressure to best GREAT WHIRL. The latter raced into close contention saving ground on the turn, came between horses to challenge the winner and was steadily gaining at the end. BLUE MIRAGE could not reach the front early, drifted slightly wide into the stretch and finished evenly. HAY MOM was rushed forward to challenge on the final turn, then suddenly weakened. SAND RUN raced in the clear while unable to command early, swung outside the leaders for the drive, then closed determinedly to outfinish the opposition, despite lugging in. GNU was well placed behind the leaders, found an opening at the head of the stretch and loomed boldly, but then could not hold the winner. BOLO RUNAWAY was steadied when unable to reach the front early and was coming on gamely at the end. TITANS MATCH sprinted into a clear lead at once, increased his advantage into the stretch and --uddenly faltered. PSYCHIC DREAM and EASY REACH were outrun. AIR0L0 quit. BIG DAN began poorly. LOTUS EATER showed in front leaving the gate, drew clear after shaking off a challenge from SKIPPER BILL at the far turn, then steadily drifted out to met the bid from BRADLEY and lasted. BRADLEY was allowed to settle into stride, moved up fast entering the stretch, then was carried out to the middle of the track by the winner in the last eighth and waand not good enough to overcome the disadvantage. JET JOY raced along evenly and was not pressed for the finish. SKIPPER BILL had a keen turn of early speed and tired. OCCUPIED ZONE was outrun. NAVY LASS bolted at the far turn. GOLDSBORO easily settled into a forward position, was snugly rated until inside the stretch, then quickly put away the leaders and drew into a long lead. HIGH PETAL was under steady handling while maintaining a short advantage over QUENTIN and had nothing left when challenged by the winner. QUENTIN closely pressed the pace from the inside under intermittent urging and weakened when hard punished for the drive. BIG THUMB failed to respond. AUNT JANE was outrun. HE WOLF quit. BAKERSFIELD was rushed after the start to be within striking distance, moved abreast the top pair saving ground on the final turn, then responded when put to extreme left-hand punishment and outfinished JACK THE GREAT. The latter was under light pressure racing closest to the pace, came around JESS LINTHICUM to reach the front inside the stretch and weakened only slightly. JESS LINTHICUM was sent along setting the pace and weakened in the last furlong. BLUE LANTERN was a keen factor for a half mile, but lacked a rally. KINSMAN was outrun. ELIXIR tired. JOEY BOY saved ground from his inside position and established a clear lead on the first turn, set an even pace and repulsed a mild bid from THREE RINGS at the far turn to again hold a clear lead, then drifted a trifle wide dueling with THREE RINGS through the last three-sixteenths and was holding his own at the end. THREE RINGS was steadied while in closest attendance to the pace, tested the winner after a half mile, but was taken in hand until inside the stretch, then loomed boldly, but hung. COMBAT BOOTS was intfecisively handled while next to the rail and inside horses, swung to the outside on the stretch turn and appeared dangerous, but hung. CHAT NOIR II. was under mild urging while racing with the first flight and weakened. UNCLE MILTIE was in hand and racing in the clear, then failed to respond when roused. GAY COUNT was overmatched. SWEET VERMOUTH was hard pressed setting the pace and gave way suddenly in the last furlong. HEAP BIG CHIEF was slow to reach best stride while racing on the inside, came out from the rail midway on the turn and made up distance, but was not a threat. ROLLICKING LAD faltered.
