TROIA moved up next to the inner rail m the run down the backstretch and, inding an opening around the far turn, challenged YUTU on the stretch turn to get to the front of the latter when straightened out for the run home and won under hand riding. YUTU was a forward contender from the start and raced in courageous fashion at the finish. STAR-BOROUGH made up considerable ground and was going well at the finish. TURNIP TILLY was never too far away, but failed to threaten. MISS FORAY made up ground in the late stages. FOOLISH WAR tired. MADAME ARCATI dashed to the front early and, racing as if easily best, drew out from the others when ready to win with speed in reserve. QUEEN OF CAIRO rushed up on the outside in the first eighth and remained closest to the leader thereafter, although failing to threaten. BURMA GIRL, racing without benefit of whip, improved her position gradually to finish well. SHADY NOOK was always a fairly good contender. TIME TO KHAL had early speed and might have needed the race. CALORIMETER raced wide. CATBERN failed to be a contender at any stage. Scratched— Heart Strings, 115; Smiling Nun, 115; 59696 Orofino, 115. VOLTAGE went to the front soon after the start and, withstanding a challenge from COAL HEAT around the stretch, drew away in the last furlong to be an easy winner. COAL HEAT, off alertly, contested the issue stubbornly for the first five-eighths, then gave way. JUST NELL raced to contention soon after the start and was gaining on COAL HEAT at the end. KLOHOME lacked speed to the stretch, then came strongly. BOMBUSTER was unable to keep up. STORMY WATERS had some early speed. ROSILY headed BLACK MITTENS after going a half mile and widened on the field around the far turn, but was forced to a hard drive in the last sixteenth to hold RAWLINS and just managed to last. RAWLINS was in rather close quarters on the first turn, but saved ground in the last quarter to find an opening on the inside of ROSILY nearing the end and would have won in a few more strides. TAX LIEN improved her position when called upon in the stretch and was going well at the end. CAPTAIN JOE raced forwardly placed. BLACK MITTENS tired. PORTERS BROOM was well up from the start and, coming strongly through the stretch, wore down GREY MIKE to get to the front in the last thirty yards and won going away. GREY MIKE went to the front at once and opened up a good lead while making the pace, but was unable to resist the winner and was doing his best to save second place. PRINCE ABBEY was outrun to the stretch, then came very fast. ALMA B. closed ground between horses. HOLLY SWEET lacked early speed, went wide in the stretch and did not get going until the race was practically finished. BOBS PAL tired. STUYVESANT, well up from the start, came around MAIL FROM HOME on the stretch turn to easily take command and drew out in the last furlong. VANTAGE moved up gamely around the final turn, but was unable to seriously menace the winner and dropped back in the final sixteenth. ETELKA closed much ground in the last quarter and finished fast. EMERALD also closed well. BOOMER weakened in the last quarter. MAIL FROM HOME sprinted to the front on the inside soon after the start, but was used up from his early efforts and had little left for the stretch drive. BLUE SHORE failed to be a serious contender. HAPPY CARRIER was never far from the pace and, coming strongly after entering the stretch, gained gradually on KING PIN in the last furlong and, catching him nearing the end, won going away under pressure. KING PIN went to the front at once and showed good speed in the pacemaking, but was unable to resist the winner. BLENRIAM made up much ground and was going well at the end. DEAN CAVY was closest to KING PIN while the latter was making the pac*, but weakened in the stretch. PRINCE MARQUE raced fairly well and was never dangerous. FIDDLE was in the center of the pack and failed to be prominent. YEA BAMA and BILL BURKE had early speed. FAMOUS CORNER trailed for a half mile, then gained steadily and finished stoutly in the middle of the track. GRAND JUROR weakened in the stretch drive.
