Chicago Downs Announces Officials for Coming Meet More than 500 years of harness racing experience will be on hand to handle the Chicago Downs meeting which opens at Sportsmans Park on June 23 with some of the sports most astute officials at the reins. Returning for his third year will be state steward P. J. Langley, of Du Quoin, 111. Langley was formerly general manager of Maywood Park and presiding judge at several midwestern tracks during his 30 years of association with the sport. M. S. Van Geison will be the presiding judge, with Ed Vogel and W. B. Westbrook as the associate judges. Jerry Baier is back for his fourth season as racing secretary. Other officials are: placing judges Frank Daniels and William Baier; patrol judges L. M. Schuler, J. Har-1 old Downey and J. G. Kohout; paddock judges Frank Miller, James Speaker and Frank Pennino; clerk of the course Clarence Ordahl; assistant racing secretaries Ken Rutherford and H. W. Chaon; mutuel manager R. J. Hart; veterinarian Dr. M. F. Kent; timers F. J. Fruin, Earl Fults and Ted Swinarski; starter John Dale; marshal and assistant starter William Emig; announcer Clure Mosher, and general superintendent Edward O. Krumrej
