: i Real Delight and Spartan Valor Top Artful, Equipoise Nominees Filly and Mare Event Will Be* Run Wednesday ;0,000Mile Stake Features June 28 Card ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 18. — Headed by Calumet Farms Real Delight and William Helis, Jr.s Spartan Valor, respectively, nominations for the 5,000 Artful Handicap and 0,-000 Equipoise Mile were released today by racing secretary Ivan Thomas. The Artful, which will feature next Wednesdays Arlington program, drew 23 eligibles. This stake, a six-furlong dash for fillies and mares three years old and upward, is being renewed this year for the first time since 1949 when Calumets Two Lea carried off top honors. The Equipoise, which annually has attracted some of the outstanding performers on the American turf, has a nomination list of 27 and will headline the program of Saturday, June 28. Real Delight will be seeking her second stake score of the current meeting in the Artful, having accounted for the Cleopatra on opening day for her seventh win in eight engagements. Thomas expects a field of 11 will oppose the speedy Calumet miss and lists the following as other prospects for the stake: Brookmeade Stables Two Rainbows, E. M. Goemans Irish import, Royal Rainbow, Clarence Hartwicks much-traveled Sickles Image, Hal Price Headleys Recover, second to Deal Delight in the Cleopatra, King Ranchs Tillie Rose, and H. F. Krimendahls Roman Miss. Helis Colt Has Six Stake Wins in Row Acknowledged handicap champion of the year, Spartan Valor already has won six stakes in succession and has amassed nearly 00,000 in competition this year. The Helis four-year-old is expected to clash with the following in the Equipoise: Andrew J. Crevolins West Coast threats, Be Fleet and Valquest, Hasty House Farms Seaward, Ruhe, and Inseparable, the Hasty House-Mrs. Harry Trotsek campaigner, Oil Capitol, Larry MacPhails General Staff, which captured the Oceanport Handicap at Monmouth and flew in to Arlington Park today; Mrs. Ada L. Rices Pet Bully and Walmac Farms turf star, Volcanic.
