Garretts Little Flirt II., a sprint winner here last fall, displayed a similar fondness for the local racing surface when she launched her current campaign with a victory in this afternoons featured Mt. Vernon Purse. Cary C. Boshamers Late Model was second, with Thomcliff Farms Rock Cottage third in front of J. Harry Miles White Cliff and Charles F. Wisecarvers Isle of Bond. Little Flirt II., -who was bred in Ireland by his owner, became the thirty-eighth winner of the waning meeting for jockey Nick Shuk, and completed the six furlongs in 1:13. Third choice in the wagering with the crowd, the victorious daughter of The Solicitor returned 0.20 after having prevailed by a half length. Nick Shuk was the riding star of the program, with four winners. He scored astride Latitude in the third, Little Flirt II. in the fifth. False Front in the seventh and Moms Choice in the nightcap. Little Flirt II. and the favored Late Model, the latter winner of last years Colleen Stakes over Home-Made and Rica Rosie, duelled for command along the back-stretch. They were head and head on the turn and were joined by Isle of Bond who, like the winner, was making his initial appearance of the year. Favored by Inside Post Position Favored by the inside position in the spirited battle for the lead, Little Flirt n. maintained a narrow advantage as Late Model stayed with her under mild urging by Oliver Cutshaw. Isle of Bond, however, took the easy way out, dropping far back to trail the field. Rock Cottage was slow to reach his best stride and was well back despite persistent urging by Bobby Mitchell. With Isle of Bond out of contention, Late Model continued in her persistent, but unsuccessful attempt to displace the leader. Little Flirt II. gave a good indication of her fitness when she responded to Shuks bustling tactics to turn back Late Model and attained her half-length advantage. Rock Cottage rallied only mildly when settled for the drive and was beaten three lengths for all the money, with White Cliff, who was also a stakes winner last season, two and a half lengths father back. Isle of Bond shortened stride through the home lane and was beaten more than a half ; dozen lengths for the main share of the spoils. The stallion, British Buddy, was represented by a pair of successful fillies on the program in Latitude and Dancing Harp. ■ Latitude, the thirty-seventh winner of the meeting for jockey Nick Shuk, scored easily ; while leading throughout and paid .40 1 as a slight favorite.
