Anagazandra in Repeat Score at Ascot Park Some 3,600 Fans Witness First Fast Track Program of Meeting By RONALD KRANCER Staff Correspondent ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, April 30. — Charley Bachelors Anagazandra scored her second straight victory over the local course when she took the honors in this afternoons featured Hubbard Purse before some 3,000 fans on a warm spring afternoon. She was ridden by Del Jessop and paid .40 as the second choice. Her. time for the six and a half furlongs was 1:20 over a fast track. This afternoon was the first day since the meeting opened on April 17 that a fast track has prevailed. The winner broke first in the Hubbard and by the time the horses had straightened away for the run down the back-stretch had gained a length and a half lead, with Grand One in second position and Polante Boy third. The favorite. White Plume, ridden by Freddy Kratz. was in fifth position at the time. Racing into the far turn. Grand One, from the barn of H. M. Simpson, moved up to a length of the leader and loomed very dangerous. However, jockey Jessop had a lap full of horse under him and after a few flicks with his stick she drew clear by three lengths as the race ended up. The winner, a good looking chestnut daughter of Swashbuckler — Aziz, was bred by G. L. Stryker and last season was very consistent, winning five times in 24 trips to the post. R. F. Myers Fleet Cross, given a hustling ride by the veteran Freddy Kratz, scored a length and a half victory in the sixth race over High Reno, who, in turn, was a half length in front of the fast-closing Spode. Fleet Cross was slightly overlooked in the wagering and paid 8.20 and covered the six and a half furlongs in 1:2035. Mrs. G. A. "Babe" Saportas, one of the most successful women trainers in the country, witnessed the running of the sixth race and posed with young Myers in the winners circle following the running. Young Myers is a protege of the famous woman trainer who for years has been the leading trainer at the Maryland halfers, and Charles Town.
