AmendmentCallsfor Setting Up Commission Office in Chicago SPRINGFIELD, 111., April 30. — An amendment to a bill recently introduced requiring that the Illinois Harness Racing Commission offices be moved to Chicago from Du Quoin was introduced yesterday. Sen. R. G. Crisenberrys amendment would require a branch office of the commission be set up in Chicago. Rep. Carl Preihs tabled three of his bills and drew up another. The measures tabled would prohibit county fairs from membership in an organization with fees in excess of 5. They would have licensed harness drivers at 0 per year and set up rules for renewing and revoking licenses. Preihs new bill was drawn up at a meeting here of some 40 breeders of harness horses. Under its terms, 85 per cent of harness track employes would have to be Illinois residents. Another feature of the measure would make a colt eligible for the Illinois colt stakes at the state fair only if sired by an Illinois stallion, not bred outside the state during the year. Also, the colt must be foaled in Illinois of a mare owned by an Illinois resident. Three-year-olds as well as two-year-old will be eligible to the colt stakes, under its provisions.
