Jeffords Kiss Me Kate has been assigned topweight of 126 pounds for the 0,000 Firenze Handicap, feature of next Tuesdays final program here at Jamaica. The Count Fleet mare, who was voted the best of her generation at three, but was able to win only one race, the New Castle Handicap, last year and finished second to Swoop in her recent seasonal debut, is expected to go postward in this mile and one furlong with Dave Gorman in the irons. Marian W. OConnors La Corredora, a winner at the meeting, and Joe W. Browns Parading Lady, winner of the Correction Handicap here, are next in the weights with 123 pounds each, and both are "probables." Darby Dan Farms Atalanta, star of the Hialeah meeting, where she won the Black Helen Handicap at the Firenze distance, gets in with 122 pounds, two more than Herman B. Delmans How. Atalanta was unplaced after showing early speed in the Correction. Woodvale Farms Marta, who turned in an excellent race for her first out here and often races well against the best of her sex, appears favorably weighted with 117 pounds. Mrs. Wallace Gilroys hard-hitting sophomore filly, Emardee, heads those of her age with 107 pounds, but is not expected to start, having engagements against those of her own age at Belmont Park in the near future.
