May 18. — Racing secretary Raleigh Leigh announced here this morning that the Ascot Gold Cup. which carries a purse of 3,000. will be drawn 48 hours in advance. That means that on Thursday. June 4, the entries for the race will be closed at 10 a. m.. and will be drawn at that time. The race is scheduled for decision on Saturday. June 6, closing day of the meeting. Leigh went on to say the Ascot Victory Plate will be run on Memorial Day and is a perfect tune-up for the two-mile cup. The Victory Plate is at a mile and one-half and will be worth ,000.
