Special Trophy to Be Awarded For Squared Aways Effort PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 18.— Jan Burke, owner of Squared Away, who won the Baltimore Spring Handicap at Pimlico on Saturday and then was disqualified back to last position for crowding the field soon after that start, will have a trophy to remind her of the horses fine performance, even though she did not receive the Spring Handicap av/ard or the purse. Squared Away set a new track record for five and a half furlongs, running the distance in l:044/5 to take a second and a fifth off the old mark, held by Senator Joe. Under racing rules, Squared Aways record will stand, even though he was disqualified. So the Maryland Jockey Club is having a special plate made to send to the owner and on it will be inscribed the date, the time set by Squared Away, together with the weight carried 121 pounds and the owners name. Meanwhile, Alan T. Clarke, Maryland owner-breeder-trainer, was receiving congratulations for picking up three trophies in a week at Pimlico. Senator Joe was awarded first money in the Spring Handicap when Squared Away was disqualified and previously the same horse had won the Baltimore Sports Reporters Association Plate on Tuesday, while Jeannie C, was the winner when the Sheraton Belvidere Trophy was on the line.
