Union Executive Board Removes Carrol! From Office Ray Carroll, deposed head of the Detroit AFL Building Service Employes Union which mans the mutuel departments at the Detroit area race tracks, was discharged from his posts Saturday, following a meeting of the unions executive board here. Daniel D. Carmell, general counsel for the union, stated, following the session, that Carroll had been thrown out of office as secretary-treasurer of two Detroit locals. The executive board found Carroll guilty on a charge of misappropriating 2,000. Tom Cleary, of New York, was officially named trustee of the locals, pending an election by the union membership. Carmell stated that the Board found Carroll had fixed himself an annual salary of 6,000 without approval of the membership, in violation of the union constitution and by-laws, and had appointed all officers instead of conducting elections.
