PEGASUS II. kept close to the pace and forced to take up when caught in close quarters nearing the final turn, was steered to the outside for the drive, closed stoutly under pressure and drew out readily. LEES BABY drove up along the inside to engage the leader after six furlongs, was unable to shake clear and held on stubbornly. TRIPLE F. improved position gradually along the inside, challenged for command in the stretch and faltered. BUZZ A BIT moved between horses on the far turn, loomed a threat and flattened out. MARINE CHARGER flattened out after a mild rally. STAND OFF established the pace for six furlongs and weakened. The others were outrun. Scratched— 830514 Neb Jr., 112. ABSTRACT was kept along the rail throughout, slipped through under pressure leaving the backstretch, continued to gain into the stretch, assumed command inside the final sixteenth and drew out. MESTIZA established the pace under steadying restraint, shook off EAGLE LOOK to draw clear in the stretch, but was not good enough. The latter forced the pace, weakening in the drive. PIRATE JEAN, shut off at the first turn, closed well in the late stages. HURRY-SKURRY rallied mildly. CENSORSHIP caught tiring horses. MILAN BOY was through after six furlongs. BRAVE BIM showed nothing. FLYAWAY JACK dropped out of contention early. Overweight— Hurry-Skurry, 2 pounds; Censorship, 3; Flyaway Jack, I. Attendance, 25,122; Total Mutuel Pool, ,412,490.
