OFF AT 2:32 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. BAMBOO was strcngly restrained while running up behind horses on the turn, found sufficient room for the stretch drive and then closed with a rush and won going away. COONAMASSET, also blocked and taken in hand rounding the turn, could not match speed with the winner in the drive, but finished gamely- TIMS RHYM received cuts on the hock from WICKS FIRST while racing in front of th latter entering the stretch, opened a commanding lead between calls, but suddenly faltered. SHEILAS TIME raced wide and lacked a rally. MADRID saved ground and caught tiring horses. LAST HAT was not a factor. WICKS FIRST began fast, then was giving way when taken back from running onto the heels of TIMS RHYM at the head of the stretch. BELLE PHAR was outrun. PAGE PUG had the most speed away from the gate, closely hugged the inner rail setting the pace under alert handling and held BEAU-WRAY-D safe. The latter raced in closest pursuit of the winner, lacked room to reach PAGE PUG on the final turn and swung slightly wide into the stretch, then raced up behined his rival again in the final stages. An objection lodged by the rider on BEAU-WRAY-D against PAGE PUG was net allowed. DARE TO HOPE lacked early speed, came between horses in the drive and finished well. KITH N KIN was a forward factor and weakened. BOB CAREY had no mishap. DICKS DIAMOND faltered. TASTY DISH was taken up at the start and had little chance. TRIPLAY bore out on the turn. BOY DAMOUR was hustled along vying for the pace, bested LIGHT MUFFIN under punishment in the last furlong, but could not resist the winner. LIGHT MUFFIN was under urging and weakened slightly in the drive. TINO BETTS saved ground in the drive and finished well to best VERDANT. The latter was a forward factor and weakened. ROCK COTTAGE was under J 1L light, L but steady urging, while racing to the leaders from the outside, gained a short advantage entering the last furlong and responded when punished to receive the nod over STARS SHINE. The latter, probably best, was rated behind the first flight, had to be restrained while pocketed on the stretch turn, forced through a narrow opening mid-stretch and just missed. WAR COMMAND easily opened a clear lead down the backstretch, then gradually weakened in the stretch drive. FREEDOM BELL saved ground while forcing the pace, quickly opened a long lead rounding the far turn and held on under punishment to be keeping BESSIES BEAU safe the final stages. The latter, outrun early, as usual, found room on the rail entering contention on the final turn, appeared to be wearing down the winner in the stretch, but hung. MARKED GAME was rallying with BESSIES BEAU when caught in a blind switch on the final turn, made a quick move when clear and weakened. LADSLOVE drifted out entering the stretch and faltered.
