Marta Works One Mile In 1 :39 for New Castle Accomplishes Moye at Belmont But Pulls Up Noticeably Lame BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 29. Woodvale Farms Marta, who is pointing for the 00,000 New Castle Handicap at Delaware Park, turned in the best workout of a quiet week end at Belmont Park. The recent winner of the Top Flight Handicap stepped a mile on the main track this morning in 1:39, in handy style. She was accompanied by Sally Boots, but left that colt after six furlongs and he was separately clocked in 1:41. The track was "good" after yesteddays rain. Marta took a bad step at the finish of her mile and came out of the work noticeably lame. The extent of the injury had not been determined late this afternoon. Greentree Stables One Hitter, who suffered a minor injury during the Belmont Park meeting that kept him out of the Massachusetts Handicap and other stakes, indicated that he is well on the road to recovery by breezing six furlongs in 1:16 this morning. Maine Chance Farms Fascinator, who has not yet been scratched from todays Astoria Stakes at Aqueduct, but who doubtless will come out of that fixture, breezed three furlongs this morning in :37. On Sunday morning, G. C. Ganters Virtuous, who looms the choice in tomorrows Sea Girt Purse at Aqueduct, went a handy mile in 1:42 for trainer Harold Goodwin. Alfred G. Vanderbilts Beachcomber, who has won his last four starts with ease and seems about ready to be tested for class, went a handy six furlongs in 1:14 over on the training track on Sunday morning. It was a good move over the deep strip.
