REIGHS DOUBLE, never far back, steadily improved his position to take command inside the stretch and, under brisk urging, held BATTLE MOUNT safe. The latter moved up boldly entering the stretch, appeared to hang slightly during the concluding strides-vand was unable to overtake the winner. MAIJO forged to the front momentarily at the furlong marker, gave way to the winner thereafter, but held on determinedly in a sharp effort. SIR ANHUT rallied too belatedly to become an endangering factor. FANELIS ALLEY quit. MERMAN began sluggishly. LA FORTUNA, much used engaging for the early advantage, had nothing left. LATE RETURN had no mishap. PREJOLI was through after three furlongs. PASSING JACK and SANDWYCK were always outrun. MIDAFTERNOON, a sharp factor from the start, forged to the front nearing the furlong marker and continued on gamely thereafter when fully extended. GRAND FIND, never far back, was unable to reach the leader when hard hustled through the late stages. JERLOU showed good early speed and finished willingly in a sharp effort. MIGHTY TURF assumed a slight lead soon after the start, then faltered when the real test came. RUSSET ORANGE moved up boldly entering the stretch, but weakened when subjected to brisk pressure. VENZY failed to stay. FRENCH NIGHTIE lacked a rally. STEWY dropped back soon after the start. OSAGIAN and BRONZE AGE were outrun. ABESHUS and CROSSED SWORDS showed nothing. SEA TERM, slow to attain best stride, was sent into closer contention nearing the final hurdle, but was unable to seriously endanger the leader when hard ridden through the late stages. ONEIDA came to the inside for the final test, but was not good enough. TROUT BROOK tired. ANCESTOR was unable to keep up. DEMOCLES quit. ANOTHER HYACINTH, much used early, had nothing left. CRAG bled slightly during the running and failed to threaten. STRAIGHT ARGO, taken back soon after the start, showed nothing. PRISM raced PECONIC into defeat to take the lead after three furlongs, was unable to withstand the challenge of the wfnner, but held on willingly to easily prevail over the others. PRINCIPIO closed with a belated burst of speed and appears ready for a creditable route effort. WHITE CLIFF rallied too belatedly to become an endangering factor. FIGHTING WISE lacked speed.
