New England Notes SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 11. The veteran Frankie Riley has arrived from Miami and taken over the booking of engagements for jockey Frank Solimena. Massachusetts Handicap day at Suffolk Downs will once again feature a full program on May 19. Herrmann of Middletown, Conn., who has five head at Suffolk Downs has assigned her horses to trainer A. M. Merz. Jockey Darrell Madden, whose 10-day suspension ends Wednesday, will feature his return to action at Suffolk Downs aboard Roedna in the ,500 Massachusetts Handicap Trial. Gordon Morrow is making plans for a special race on Massachusetts Handicap Day at Suffolk Downs next Wednesday that will feature all gray horses. A similar event was held a few years back and made a tremendous hit. J. S. Phipps Parnassus returned to Suffolk Downs from Pimlico and will now be pointed for the 0,000 added Massachusetts Handicap. Clerk of scales Willie Canning missed Tuesdays racing at Suffolk Downs due to the death of his father-in-law. Gerard Burke took over his. duties for the day. When Tony DeSpirito rode Jantember to victory in the opening race at Suffolk Downs Monday, it recalled to many that it was on Jantember that Tony equaled the American riding record in 1952 at Tropical Park. Jantember was his 388th winner. Oddly enough that victory was in the mud, too, and Jantembers first win since that event.
