Maryland Notes PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 11. Those who have visited Pimlico over the week end are enthused over the change made on the apron in front of the grandstand. During the winter months, the entire areas was filled and graded and then covered with blacktop. From the foot of the grandstand to the outer rail of the track, is a steady incline rather than the steps and incline which previously marked the area. Not only does the new arrangement provide better viewing for persons standing on the apron, but it is expected to avoid a lot of congestion. Mrs. H. W. Wageleys King Poise and Inn Keeper were shipped out recently. King Poise was sent to Ascot Park while Inn, Keeper was vanned to Charles Town. Both thoroughbreds are conditioned by J. H. Van Wert. Ronnie Nash, veteran jockey, is riding free lance at the Pimlico meeting and reports, excellent progress in; his battle against; increasing weignt; Ronnie "Vacationed"-iff Florida during the winter and was up as high as 135 pounds. He is now down to 117 and expects to be able to do 114 before long. In his first riding attempt since last fall at Bowie, Nash scored with a longshot. Sterling Young, general manager of the Jockeys Guild, was an arrival and plans to take in several days of the sport at Pimlico. Trainer Joe Serio, Jr., reported that Len Carver had purchased the three-year-old gelding, Lagrin, from Larry S. MacPhail in a private transaction. Auburn Farms Powder Flask, second to Will See in his track-record-breaking Kindergarten victory Saturday, has two stakes engagements at Delaware Park. The son of War Relic has been nominated for the Dover and Christiana Stakes at the Stanton race course. The large public stable maintained by Frank A. Bonsai will be campaigned on two fronts. Bonsai will handle the local division and Joe Mergler departed for Garden State Park todayato-supervise 15 horses r at the Camdencourse.
